FAQs

Questions founders ask first.

General information based on rules as we understand them, not personal legal or tax advice. Rules change, so we confirm what applies to you before any filing.

Which business structure is right for me?

It depends on liability, whether you'll have partners or investors, and how much annual compliance you can manage. A proprietorship is cheapest and fastest but leaves you personally liable. An LLP limits liability with lighter compliance. A Private Limited company suits founders planning to raise investment. We recommend one after an assessment, and often it's the simplest option.

Do I need a GST number to sell online?

Usually, yes. Marketplaces collect tax (TCS) on your sales, and selling through them generally requires GST registration even below the normal turnover limit. Selling only through your own website follows the regular limits of ₹40 lakh for goods and ₹20 lakh for services, which are lower in some states.

Can I sell on a marketplace without a GST number?

Sometimes. Since October 2023, small sellers of goods who sell only within their own state through a marketplace can use a GST enrolment number instead of full registration. You can't sell to buyers in other states under it. Sellers of fully GST-exempt goods may also not need registration. Marketplaces set their own rules too, so we check your products and plans before recommending either route.

Can I switch from a proprietorship to a company later?

Yes, but a company is a new legal entity with its own PAN and GST number. Marketplaces generally treat it as a new seller, so you may need a new seller account, separate from your existing listings and reviews. That's why we talk about where your business is heading before choosing a structure.

Can I do this myself?

Often, yes. GST and Udyam registration are free on the government portals, and many founders file them on their own. Help is most useful when several registrations depend on each other, or when a mistake, such as a wrong trademark class or business structure, is costly to undo.

Why not use a low-cost online GST service?

If a GST number is all you need, that can be a sensible choice. Check what the price includes, what happens after payment, and the refund terms. We help founders who need several registrations decided together.

Do I need a trademark before launching?

It isn't legally required to start selling. But if another business already owns your brand name, you may have to rebrand after printing packaging and building reviews. A search before launch is inexpensive, and Amazon Brand Registry needs a trademark application or registration.

What documents are required?

Usually PAN, Aadhaar, a photo, address proof, business address proof and bank details. Each service page lists exactly what it needs. We will not ask for anything the filing doesn't require.

What's included in a quote?

Your written quote includes the government fees for that filing, such as MCA fees and stamp duty for a company, or the IP India fee for a trademark. GST is added on top. Late fees for filings that are already overdue are not included.

How long does the process usually take?

There are two clocks: ours and the authority's. We commit to our turnaround from the day we have complete documents. Government and platform processing is outside our control and varies; trademarks in particular can take a year or more.

What happens after I pay?

You get an invoice and a document checklist. Once documents are checked we file, and you receive updates at each stage until certificates or account access are handed over, with a list of your next deadlines.

What if additional documents are requested?

Authorities sometimes raise a query after filing. We tell you what is needed and by when, and file the reply. Your quote states whether replies are included; formal hearings are quoted separately.

Can I buy only the service I need?

Yes. Every registration is available on its own. Our compliance plans combine them only if you want them done together.

What support is available after completion?

You receive a list of upcoming compliance deadlines. You can message us on WhatsApp with questions after handover. Ongoing GST filing is available as a separate recurring service.

What renewals and recurring compliance should I expect?

GST returns monthly or quarterly. Annual filings for companies and LLPs, even with no sales. Trademark renewal every 10 years. Digital signature certificates need renewing when they expire.

What happens in the fit check?

15 minutes on WhatsApp or a call. We ask what you sell, where you sell and your stage, then tell you what applies and the fixed price. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

Why aren't you the cheapest?

Because we check what you actually need before filing anything and fix the fee in writing. Cheaper options sometimes add charges later or file things you didn't need.

Do I have to share documents on WhatsApp?

No. Your first message only needs your stage and what you need help with. Once you decide to go ahead, we tell you exactly which documents are needed and agree a secure way to send them.

How quickly will you reply?

Within 3 hours, between 9 am and 6 pm, every day. Messages after 6 pm get a reply the next morning.

Last reviewed: October 2026. Thresholds and fees are set by government notifications and can change.

Not sure what you need?

Tell us what you sell and where. In a 15-minute fit check, we'll tell you what applies, what doesn't, and the fixed price, before you commit.
